
Keeping Your Bathroom Warm Without the Blinding Glare
Ever turned on a bathroom heater and felt like you were staring directly into the sun? It’s annoying. But if you’ve got a baby in the house, it’s actually a real concern. Little ones have eyes that aren’t fully developed yet, and those harsh, bright flashes of light can be way too much for them. We figured out a way to fix that.
How we handle the light
Most heaters use short-wave infrared to get the room warm fast. The problem is that this usually comes with a blinding white glare. To stop that, we use a special doped quartz coating on the glass. Think of it like a pair of high-tech sunglasses for your heater. It lets the cozy heat pass right through, but it blocks out those sharp, blue-light peaks. You get all the warmth, but none of the “I can’t see” brightness.
The balance of heat and comfort
Here’s the thing: if you cram too much power into a tiny filament, it gets way too hot and starts emitting a piercing light. It creates these “hot spots” that are just unpleasant to be around. Instead, we spread the power across a longer filament. It keeps the light soft and mellow. You still get the same amount of heat to warm up the room, but it doesn’t feel like a spotlight is hitting you in the face.
A few things to keep in mind
These lamps are designed to be easy. They just drop right into standard R7s sockets, so you don’t need a degree in engineering to swap them out. Now, there is one small trade-off. Because that protective coating blocks some light, you lose a tiny bit of raw heat—maybe 5% to 10%. It’s a small price to pay for safety, but it’s something to remember when you’re figuring out how much heat you need for your space. One last tip: since these are halogen-based, they have a little “kick” of power when they first click on. Just make sure your wiring is up to the task so you aren’t tripping your breakers every time you want a warm bathroom.
