
Keeping the Glare Out of Your Bathroom Heater
Ever turned on a bathroom mirror heater and felt like you were staring directly into the sun? It happens because those standard halogen lamps throw out a ton of visible light and UV rays along with the heat. For most of us, it’s just annoying. But if you’ve got a baby or a toddler in the house, that harsh glare is a real problem. Nobody wants their kid squinting or stressed out just because it’s cold in the bathroom. So, we figured out a way to keep the warmth but lose the blinding light. The secret is in the coating. We put a special layer on the quartz tube that basically acts like a pair of sunglasses for the heater. It blocks the blue light and those sharp UV peaks, but lets the cozy infrared heat slide right through. The result? You get a “soft light” feel. No harsh flickers, no blinding white flashes—just a gentle glow and a lot of heat. Then there’s the mirror. That shiny finish isn’t just there to look pretty. We use a parabolic aluminum reflector to push the heat exactly where it needs to go: straight down. By focusing the beam, we can actually lower the wattage of the lamp without losing that “toasty” feeling on your skin. It saves a bit of power and stops stray light from bouncing all over the room. Of course, there’s always a trade-off. Here’s the honest part: when you add those filters to the tube, you lose a little bit of raw heat—maybe 5% to 10%. To fix that, we just tweak the filament or bump up the voltage a tiny bit. It’s a balancing act. We have to make sure the heater warms up quickly while keeping it easy on your eyes. It’s a small tweak in the engineering, but it makes a world of difference when you’re just trying to get ready in the morning.
