Here is the thing about the technical side. We didn’t just “approximate” the specs. We matched the wattage and voltage of the Blomax 6 power supplies exactly. Why? Because if the voltage is even a little bit off, you’re asking for trouble. You’ll either burn through your lamps way too fast or find that your preforms just aren’t getting hot enough. Then there’s the fit. We kept the mounting geometry standard. When you swap a lamp into a Matrix oven, the heat hits the preform exactly where it’s supposed to. If you’re off by just a few millimeters, you get cold spots. And cold spots mean thin walls in your bottles, which is the last thing you want. What are these things actually made of? These lamps put out a lot of heat. A lot. Because of that, you’ve got to keep your oven’s ventilation and cooling systems clean. If your fans are clogged with dust, the heat builds up and will kill any lamp—no matter how well it’s made. One more tip: before you wire everything up, check your contact points for any oxidation. Cleaning those off prevents the terminals from overheating, which saves you a lot of grief down the road.
